3. Make a midsagittal section of the pelvis of the cadaver, removing the right pelvis and lower limb at the 4th lumbar vertebra.

In order to dissect the pelvis viscera and external genitalia it is necessary to hemisect the pelvis. Begin this procedure by tying off the rectum using a string. This is to contain the contents of the sigmoid colon. Cut across the rectum, below the tie. Next, remove the lower limb on the side opposite where the lumbar plexus was dissected. Make a transverse incision through the abdominal wall just above the iliac crest from lateral to medial. Cut through all the soft tissue. Continue your incision through the structures of the midline. Next make a midline incision downward. Make an incision in the midline of the rectum, cutting it into two equal halves. Next, turn your attention anteriorly. Starting at the pubic symphysis region, cut down through the top of the bladder. Try to make your incision exactly in the midline. Having finished incising the pelvic organs internally, next section the external genitalia in the midline. After sectioning the external genitalia, turn the body over, and cut through the soft tissues in the anal canal and sacrum in the midline. Next, insert a large saw in the cuts previously made and cut through the dorsal side of the sacrum. Next, use a small saw to cut through the vertebral body to join the transverse and midline incisions. Once again, turn the cadaver over and use a small saw to cut through the pubic symphysis. This should complete the sectioning of the hard structures of the pelvis. Separate the limbs and use a scalpel to sever any remaining soft tissue connections.
