TRIGEMINAL NERVE- CN V continued
The third division of the trigeminal nerve is both a motor and sensory nerve.
MANDIBULAR division (CN V3) passes through the FORAMEN OVALE that is both a sensory and motor nerve. The motor component supplies the MUSCLES OF MASTICATION, mylohyoid, anterior belly of the digastric, tensor veli palatini and tensor tympani. Sensation from the skin over the mandible, including the lower lip and side of the head, mandibular teeth, mucosa of the mouth and the anterior two thirds of the tongue is also relayed by CN V3.
